Thanks for visiting my website, First I’d like to share a little with you about Wilson Barrel Horses and how I got started. I was raised riding horses like most of you, except I was raised on a different breed then most, Morgans. I was 13 when I went to my first rodeo. I knew right away when the barrel racing started that this was the Sport for me. I begged and pleaded for years to get my parents to believe I was serious in wanting to run barrels. Finally when I was 16 they believed me. We starting our search with VERY little money to spend and no real knowledge of barrel horses or even knew any Barrel horse people to help us with our search. We finally found a buckskin mare named Docs Mardi. She was a challenge to say the least. Come to find out after owning her for a few months the mare was gate sour and a little hot to boot. (That is putting it mildly) I wanted it so badly I just kept going and hauling even after I realized the challenges. It wasn’t long before my mom realized, that even though we knew a lot about horses, we knew very little about the Sport/Art of Barrel Racing. She started to seek out help for me. She believed to be the best you need to learn from the best. She found Connie Combs.

I headed off to Comanche Ok in January of 1992 to get some one on one lessons at Connie’s place. Upon arriving, I met a woman with a genuine desire to help me and encourage me to do better. She always believed in me and in turn helped me to believe in myself. She was generous and always eager to push me to the next level, and even now 15 years later she is still pushing me. (A little louder and harder then before).

Over the years my focus has been moved and adjusted a few times, but my desire has never weakened. In 1996 I got married to Vince, and a little over a year later we had our first daughter, Morgan, followed 3 ½ years later by Sydney. When Sydney was almost a year old I was ready to put some focus back on barrel racing. I again called Connie and we began again. (Funny how at 16 I had no doubts, and at 26 I was full of it!!) Since then I have been collecting barrel horses of various style, size and breeding, all of them picked because they carried something special inside of them, that I believed made them a great candidate to put in the trailer and invest my time and money in.

I want to thank you for visiting us and hope that you like what you see, as much as I do!

See ya down the road- The Wilson’s
